THE VOICE

                                                                   THE VOICE

At the At the  tender age of thirteen years old after preforming the song " Tomorrow " from Annie the Broadway Show. The audience ran forward to hear her sing on stage. They  responded by clapping and cheering- this was such a huge accolade. Whitney's mother said " God is following you and this is what your suppose to do".

Church and the power of faith had a tremendous influence on Whitney and if God wanted her to perform and sing than this was her calling in life. No questions asked.

So how does someone with so much faith and high morals, sink so low in life to be treated three times for drug addition,  be a victim of spousal abuse, domestic violence , eating disorder, anxiety, depression, isolation, and co-dependency.

For most of us life is about Me and My Problem, for Whitney it was about  Me and God.

Whitney could not just confess her sins, be forgiven, and move on.She had to be good  all the time and try and keep Satin from knocking on her door. THIS MEANS EXTREME PRESSURE.

There seems to be a sense of competitiveness in making sure her marriage was going to be successful. The underlying stigmatize about divorce meant Whitney had to display :"THE GOOD WIFE" facade.

But in reality she was a National Treasure who had  hooked up with a looser, he was controlling, emotionally abusive, and an enabler in supplying her with drugs.

Whitney used pray as her savior.

Used drugs, alcohol to dull the pain of  guilt, shame, hopelessness, and a  fragile personality, that lacked self confidence.

She clung to a child who had the role of a pseudo parent. That child was born with the job to be the moralistic voice, counselor, rescuer for her  dysfunctional parents. This will no doubt have a devastating  impact on her own emotional development.

Although we are all sadden by her accidental death- we are more sadden that her daughter who's life will be irrevocably altered for ever. We can only hope that her mother's life has given her some insight into her mother's demons and how she must continue to take care of herself by taking care of her self emotionally with out the same crutch ( addition) her parents used day in and day out.
